Anniversary Dinners at Home: Private Chef in Rhode Island and Massachusetts
Anniversary Dinners at Home: Private Chef in Rhode Island and Massachusetts
An anniversary dinner at home runs at your pace, in your kitchen, on the night that matters. Five-year, ten-year, twenty-fifth, fortieth. Two guests at the table. A multi-course menu built around the two of you. Nobody else watching.
Most anniversary dinners I cook fall outside the summer Newport rush. October through April. Winter anniversaries when restaurants are running tired prix-fixe menus and the dining rooms are noisy with holiday crowds. Spring anniversaries when nobody wants to fight for a table.
I’m Paige Gilbert, owner and chef at Partum Events. I cook private anniversary dinners in homes across Rhode Island and Massachusetts, including Providence, East Greenwich, Barrington, Wellesley, Newton, Brookline, Needham, Wakefield, and Cambridge.
This is not a restaurant anniversary. The night is built around the two of you.
Why Anniversaries Belong at Home
A restaurant anniversary has a 90-minute table limit, three other tables of strangers, a noise level that cuts conversation in half, and a wine list marked up three times retail. The food is usually good. The night isn’t yours.
Anniversaries carry weight. Five years, ten, twenty-five, forty. The night is one of the few each year that is just about the two of you. It deserves to be cooked for, not rushed through. The food should reflect the years, not the restaurant’s prix-fixe template.
An anniversary dinner cooked in your home flips that. The chef arrives early, sets up in your kitchen, plates each course as it’s ready, and serves at your table. You sit across from your partner. The wine you serve was bought at retail. The conversation goes wherever it needs to go.
Most off-season anniversary bookings I take are intimate. Two guests, sometimes four, sometimes six. Multi-course (usually five or six), plated, paced across two and a half to three hours. The menu is built around the two of you.
How an Anniversary Night Runs
I arrive 2.5 hours before service. Kitchen and bar setup begins. Mise en place finished, oven heating, table linens reviewed if you’ve requested table styling. The first course is plated when you sit down.
Service is plated, paced course by course over three hours. Between courses I’m in the kitchen, not at the table. The dinner flows at your pace. I clean as I go, so the kitchen you wake up to looks like nobody cooked there.
Some couples want service to feel like a restaurant. Some want it to feel like the chef isn’t there at all. Tell me which and I adjust.
A Sample Anniversary Menu
The menu starts with a conversation. What you both love. The dish from the trip you took for your fifth. The restaurant meal that made you say “we should have this again.” The dietary restrictions and the food allergies. The cuts of fish or beef you both gravitate toward.

What’s Actually Included
Everything. Menu consultation, sourcing from local suppliers, all ingredients, kitchen setup, cooking, service, and cleanup. You don’t touch a dish.
I bring equipment if your kitchen doesn’t have what we need. I work in rental homes, condos, and old houses with quirky kitchens all the time, so an unfamiliar kitchen doesn’t faze me. I’ll do a quick walkthrough beforehand to know what I’m working with.
Service stays out of the way. I plate and bring courses to the table. Between courses I’m in the kitchen, not parked at the table. During dessert, I’m mostly out of sight unless you want something else.
Wine, spirits, and any specialty rentals are discussed upfront. I bring mixers, citrus, fresh herbs, garnishes, and glassware if your kitchen is short.
The Evening, Hour by Hour
Every anniversary night is planned and timed around the two of you. Aperitifs and light bites while dinner comes together. First course, main, dessert. The pace is yours.
| Time | What’s Happening |

Where I Drive
In Rhode Island, the anniversary calendar covers Providence, East Greenwich, Barrington, Bristol, Wakefield, Narragansett, and the rest of the state.
In Massachusetts, I cover Wellesley, Newton, Brookline, Needham, Weston, Dover, Cambridge, and the rest of the Boston metro. Mainland Cape Cod is also part of the year-round anniversary calendar.
For couples on Aquidneck Island, see the original anniversary dinner page anchored to Newport. This page covers off-season and statewide bookings.

When to Book
Anniversary dates are usually fixed, so the booking window doesn’t matter as much as it does for flexible-date events. Four to six weeks ahead is ideal. Last-minute bookings (one to two weeks out) are sometimes possible.
Off-season anniversaries (October through April) are easier to book than summer ones. Most weekend dates in winter and early spring are open three to four weeks out.
