Why meal prep

Meal prep: the week, without the dinner shift.

The week starts hard. Two work meetings before noon, a kid with a cough, a sport practice you forgot about until you saw it on the calendar Sunday night. By Wednesday the fridge is empty except for a wedge of leftover takeout and three things that need to be eaten before they go bad. Dinner becomes whatever’s fast.

Private chef meal prep means you skip that whole arc. You pick the day. I cook a week of your meals, portion them into containers labeled by day, and drop them off ready to reheat. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks. Whatever fits the way your week actually runs.

The menu is custom. The ingredients are sourced from wherever you want them sourced. Your preferred grocery store, your favorite seafood market, your local farm stand, or my standard suppliers if you don’t have a strong preference. The portions match your household. The dietary preferences are built in from the first conversation.

This is a Rhode Island service. Meal prep delivery covers the Newport area up through Providence, plus the East Bay and South County towns in between.

How meal prep works

Three steps. One week.

01
Talk
Headcount, dietary preferences, what your week looks like, what you’re tired of eating. You also tell me where you want the shopping done and what day works for cooking or drop-off.
02
Menu
I send a custom weekly menu. A few entrées plus breakfast, lunch, and snack options. You approve, change, or swap before I shop.
03
Shop & cook
I shop where you want me to shop. I cook the full week of meals in your kitchen or mine, depending on what you chose. Everything portioned into labeled containers with reheating instructions.

Common meal prep questions

Questions about meal prep.

How does pricing work?
Meal prep pricing depends on the menu, the portion count, the frequency, and the household size. After our first conversation, I send a custom weekly quote based on what you want. The standard event pricing structure does not apply to meal prep because the format is recurring weekly meals.
How many meals can I order per week?
Most households order between five and ten meals per week. The minimum is two portions per menu item.
Do you accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions?
Yes. Gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, paleo, keto, nut-free, allergen-specific, celiac, and kosher-style are all accommodated. The menu is built around the most restrictive eater.
Where do you cook?
Your kitchen or mine. You pick at booking. Most regular weekly clients prefer pickup or delivery from my kitchen so their home kitchen stays free for the week. Some clients prefer me to cook on-site.
Where do you shop for ingredients?
Wherever you want me to shop. Your preferred grocery store, your favorite seafood market, your local farm stand, or my standard suppliers if you don’t have a strong preference.
Do I provide containers?
Either works. Reusable containers (returned at the next drop) keep waste low. Disposable containers are also available.
Can I change the menu week-to-week?
Yes. The menu adjusts based on what your household loved, what got skipped, what’s in season, and any new dietary preferences.
How far in advance do I need to book?
For new clients, two to three weeks lead time on the first week. After that, most ongoing clients lock their cadence and the menu cycles weekly.
Where do you deliver?
Rhode Island only. Aquidneck Island (Newport, Middletown, Portsmouth), Jamestown, the East Bay (Tiverton, Little Compton, Bristol, Warren, Barrington), Providence and East Providence, plus parts of North Kingstown, Narragansett, and South Kingstown. Outside Rhode Island, meal prep isn’t a fit.
What days do you deliver?
Monday through Thursday. Most clients pick Monday because it sets up the week. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are off the table. Fridays and Saturdays are event days, and Sundays are family time.
Can you do meal prep for a Newport summer rental week?
Yes. Newport summer rentals are one of the most-requested meal prep formats during summer months. The fridge is stocked the day you arrive. Breakfast options for the week, lunch and grab-and-go items for the beach days, full dinners for the nights you’re not eating out. Reheating instructions are on every container.
How long do the meals stay fresh?
Most meals stay fresh in the fridge for four to five days from the prep day. Anything that holds longer (sauces, soups, certain proteins) gets noted on the container. Freezer-safe portions are an option for households that want to spread the week further.
Can you cook for a household with completely different dietary needs (one vegan, one keto)?
Yes. Multi-dietary households are normal. A vegan partner, a keto household member, kids who’ll eat anything. The menu runs parallel options across the week so each person has real meals, not workarounds.
Do you do post-partum meal prep for new parents?
Yes. Post-partum meal prep is a regular booking. The menu leans toward warming, nourishing one-handed dishes. Slow-braised proteins, hearty soups, grain bowls, lactation-supportive recipes when requested. Drop-offs run the full first six weeks at most clients’ cadence.
